Meet Kathy Yale - "The Barefoot Scorpion"!
As a person with a lifelong passion for health and fitness I worked my way through undergraduate and MBA programs trying every new philosophy on training I read about. Finally, after 10 years of competing in triathlons I began to feel the wear and tear on my body and tried my first yoga class. It turns out that it wasn't the "newest in training" that would teach me something about my fitness, but an ancient philosophy taught for thousands of years. I quickly learned the benefits of the mind and body connection that is made through yoga.
My training in yoga is based on the Iyengar discipline but has grown to include aspects of many other sources from John Friend's teachings on Alignment to The Yoga Sutras ofPatanjali. I find that the learning is as fascinating as it was 14 years ago and the sources of learning are unending. As a retired triathlete, I love to share my new passion with other athletes; I admire the dedication, coachability, determination, and competitive spirit of athletes. I also love to hear about the measureable improvements made in their sports as a result of yoga.
I currently teach yoga at Northwestern University, Sanctuary in Highwood, Healing Power in Highland Park, Midtown in Bannockburn, and with several private clients.
