Wauconda Sprint Triathlon

 

Packet Pick-up----No Race Day Packet Pick-up!!  

        Packet pick-up will be held on Saturday, July 25 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. ALL

           PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING A PHOTO ID TO PACKET PICK-UP. ONLY A

           REGISTERED PARTICIPANT CAN PICK UP HIS/HER PACKET. The location

            for packet pick-up will be at the Wauconda Park District Community Center located at

            600 North Main Street. This is close to the finish line of the race.

 

Race will start on TIME!!

        Start time for the race is 6:30 am. Unless there is a safety concern, the race will start on

            time. Participants will need to allow time to check in at Cook Park. Buses will

            transport all participants to Beach Park to begin the swim portion of the race. All

            participants must check-in no later than 5:45 am. We plan on having 400 participants.


Rules/Guidelines

        The race will begin in waves at Beach Park.

        Wet suits are allowed, water temperature the day of the race is expected to be between 74

            and 78 degrees. If the temperature is 84 degrees or greater, wet suits will not be

            allowed.

       Swimming caps will be provided and are required during the swim portion of the race.

       Caps are color coded by wave. Lifeguards and other water patrol personnel will be on

          hand to ensure a safe swim for the participants.

       ANSI approved bike helmets must be worn and secured inside the transition area.

              Participants initially entering the transition area will be required to show their helmet

              prior to entering. No helmet-No Racing!

        Bikes must be mounted and dismounted outside the transition area.

        USAT Officials will be monitoring the course watching for minor violations.

 

Transition Area

    Only participants are allowed in the transition area (Cook Park).

    Each participant will be provided a printed label matching your race number. This

        number must be on your bike prior to entering the transition area. Only the triathlete

        matching the race number will be allowed in/out of the transition area with the bike.

    Only one bike per rider is allowed in the transition area.

    The transition area will open at 4:30 am and remain secure until a half an hour after the

         final participant crosses the finish line. All participants must be out of the transition area

         by 6:00 am. Participants will not be allowed to remove any items from the transition

         area until the last participant has begun the run portion of the event.

 

Bike Route

     The bike course is challenging and hilly. The entire bike course is open to regular road

        traffic. Please be aware of your surroundings and be careful. Always use caution and

         remain to the right hand side of the road.

       Volunteers and signs will be on the course to remind participants of where to go.

       Headphones are prohibited.

       All bike handlebars must have end caps.

 

Run

       Race numbers will be provided. This is important for teams. Numbers must be worn on

          the run. The route is in a residential area and roads are not closed to traffic. Volunteers

          and signs will direct the runners and the auto traffic, but remain cautious. Fluids will be

          available at two aid stations on the run course.

 

Refreshments

       There should be ample food and beverages at the finish line. Please refuel yourselves and

         refrain from feeding your family and friends. These items are intended for the athletes

         only.

 

Course Maps

       Course maps are available at www.waucondaparks.com. Course locations are subject to

          change prior to the event.

 

Misc.

     Parking will be available in the Cook Park Parking lots.

     Race Results

     Race results will be posted periodically as racers finish and at the awards ceremony

        approximately 1/2 hour after the last person crosses the finish line.

      Results will also be posted online at www.waucondaparks.com no later than Tuesday, July 29 at 5:00            pm.
